Exit Laughing by Paul Elliott is a two act comedy that tells the story of three bridge playing

friends who are mourning the death of their bridge partner Mary. The excitement begins when

Millie “borrows” the ashes from the funeral home for one last game of bridge to the horror of

Connie and Leona. The excitement ramps up with a police raid and a male stripper. In the end,

the characters learn an important life lesson about what it means to be truly living.

The following roles are available for 1 male and 4 females:

Connie Harland (50-60)

a woman whose life has become boring and predictable. She learns

much about living on this fateful bridge night.

Rachel Harland (19-25)

Connie’s daughter and a university student majoring in drama who

seems to be struggling with life and men.

Leona (55-60)

one of Connie’s closest friends and a member of the bridge club for over 30

years. A beautician by profession and a lush with attitude by preference.

Millie (55-60)

another of Connie’s friends and a long time bridge club member. She marches to

her own off-beat drummer and is the one who borrows the ashes from the funeral home.

Policeman/Bobby (21-30)

Rachel’s latest love interest and a male stripper. This role requires

the actor to feel comfortable doing a modified strip tease routine.

Please note that the costume

described in the script will be a bit more modest for our stage.

If one of these roles appeals to you or if you would simply like to fulfill a dream of performing on

stage, please come out and audition. Linda, the director, would love to see you.

The play will be performed in April, 2026 at the Victoria Jubilee Hall.

Performance dates will be:

April 10, 11 and 12 and April 15 to 18.

Exit Laughing is presented by arrangement with THE

DRAMATIC PUBLISHING COMPANY INC., of Woodstock, Illinois.
