The County Towne Players have selected Nancy Frick’s adult comedy, Four Weddings and an Elvis for its 2019 Spring production. Director Janice Swanton is anxious to get started and has set audition dates for Monday, October 28 and Tuesday, October 29 at
7 pm at the Victoria Jubilee Hall.
(Call backs will be held on Wednesday, October 30 if necessary.)
As always, the County Towne Players are looking for new talent as well as veteran performers to play the 4 female and 7 male roles available in this production. A
limited number of copies of the script are available to sign out at the McIntee Real Estate office at 11 Durham Street W. in Walkerton. As well, any individuals who are interested in working backstage are also encouraged to attend the casting call.
All four scenes of Four Weddings and an Elvis are set in a wedding chapel in Las Vegas. Sandy, the four times married, three times divorced owner of the wedding chapel has seen her share of matrimonies over the years. In the hilarious Four Weddings and an Elvis, we witness four of her funniest: Bev and Stan who are getting married by Elvis himself and on video, as revenge on their exes; Vanessa and Bryce,
two arrogant aging former TV stars who are tying the knot as a publicity stunt; and are angry that the aging minister doesn’t know who they are; and Marvin and Fiona, a gentle postal worker and a tough ex-con trying to get married before the police arrive to capture Fiona’s former boyfriend, Fist who has broken out of jail to attend the wedding. The final wedding, Sandy’s own, brings back all of the characters from the previous scenes with a cameo by her drunken ex-husband, Ken. Four Weddings and an Elvis is a comedic treat certain to please audiences with its humour and the hilarious twists of the last scene.
If you are interested in becoming part of this endeavour as an actor or as part of the production staff, please consider coming out to the casting call on Monday, October 28 or Tuesday, October 29 at 7 pm on stage at Victoria Jubilee Hall in Walkerton. Please enter by the side door off the parking lot. If you are unable to attend on these dates but would still like to audition for a part, please contact Janice Swanton at 519-367-2049.
